This cover design is inspired by Shigesato Itoi’s 1994 Super Nintendo game, MOTHER 2 (released as EarthBound in North America). "Smiles and Tears" is the song that plays during the staff credits of EarthBound, allowing players to reminisce about the memorable scenes from the game. Throughout EarthBound's narrative, players experience a mix of joy, friendship, and humor, as well as moments of sadness, loss, and introspection. The title "Smiles and Tears" perfectly captures this emotional rollercoaster, reflecting the contrast between moments of happiness and sorrow encountered throughout the game.
